Ingredients:
- 1 cup dates, pitted
- 1/2 cup almonds
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 1 tablespoon licorice root powder
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup shredded coconut (optional, for rolling)
Instructions:
- Place the dates, almonds, oats, licorice root powder, chia seeds, honey, and vanilla extract in a food processor.

- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon licorice root powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 large egg
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, licorice root powder, ginger, cinnamon, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar until creamy.
- Add the molasses and egg, and beat until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
- Roll the dough into balls and place on a baking sheet.
- Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
